The Glow Trot 5k was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who came out and had a great time raising money for REACH Haiti Ministries!

An idea born in the hearts of those impacted by visiting the country of Haiti is coming to fruition in Maryville on Saturday, September 28. The GLOW Trot 5k will begin at 8 p.m. with runners and walkers setting out from the starting line glowing brightly, putting aside their fears to show their love for Haiti.

LOVE>FEAR, a ministry of Maryville Vineyard Church, will host The GLOW Trot 5k to raise funds for Blount County’s own REACH Haiti Ministries. The GLOW Trot 5k shows that meaningful fundraising does not have to be boring. With glowsticks, black lights, music, face paint, and other glowbased activities, The GLOW Trot 5k leadership team hopes to provide a funfilled 5k experience to all participants, with every penny of the proceeds going directly to REACH Haiti Ministries.
“The event is really going to be a crazy fun time for everyone,” GLOW Trot team member Brian Lee said, “but the main focus of the race is to raise money for the Armstrongs and REACH Haiti. I’ve seen how what they are doing in Haiti is radically changing people’s lives for the better, and we want to do everything we can to help them, and have a ton of fun in the process.”
REACH Haiti Ministries is a Blount County founded and operated organization that is based in the area of Port au Prince, Haiti. REACH Haiti runs an orphanage that provides care to 29 orphaned or abandoned Haitian children ages 218, supports three schools, provides leadership training to hundreds of young adult Haitians, partners with over 30 established churches, and has planted and supports over 120 simple churches throughout every zone in Haiti.
“I am so excited about the GLOW Trot 5k and so thankful for all the hard work of the 5k team,” REACH Haiti missionary Josh Armstrong said, “To have this many people back in the states working to raise money and awareness for REACH Haiti  in such a creative, and really in a fun way, is a true blessing. I can’t wait to see how it goes.”
The 5k team and LOVE>FEAR have published a downloadable media kit with the event flyer, sponsorship and registration info, and other multimedia to spread news about the race.
